Our stay at IONA was perfect- from all of Erika’s help with planning and local knowledge (she even helped us deal with a flat tire) to the howler monkeys above our heads and the beach accessories for us to borrow, every bit was wonderful. Plus the walk to the beach was so quick and easy, and our kids had just as great a time as we did! Thank you!

Meine 2 Wochen in der Casita von Ben und Erika waren der absolute Hammer.
Ein kleines Paradies, zu Fuss alles schnell erreichbar.
Eine gut ausgestattete Küche mit vielen Geräten wie Toaster, Mixer für Shake‘s, Kaffeemaschine usw.
Im Badezimmer eine Dusche mit genügend Wasserdruck, zudem hat es auch draussen eine Dusche und ein Bad.
Was mir besonders gefallen hat ist die Privatsphäre, welche dieser kleiner Ort einem bietet.
Die Handtücher und alles war frisch, gut riechend beim Bezug vom Casita.
Bei Fragen wurde sofort weitergeholfen.
Vielen Dank für diesen unvergesslichen Aufenthalt.
Ich werde auch in Zukunft diese Unterkunft in meiner Planung berücksichtigen😍

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. This place is about as perfect as it gets. You have a private space in the back, and a large main room in the front where people can hang out, play games, and enjoy books. There’s also a local coffee shop out front with both English- and Spanish-speaking staff, and if Ben isn’t around, they’re super helpful with recommendations on what to do nearby.
The beach is truly just a 4–7 minute walk. We didn’t just like it—we loved everything about it. If I’m ever back in Sámara, this is the only place I’d stay.
The place is exactly as pictured. The kitchen is well stocked with stainless steel cookware, and one of the best parts is the gas stove—especially when the town loses power, you can still cook. It was really easy to use. There’s also a fridge and freezer that fit everything you need.
Upstairs is well air-conditioned, although there were nights we didn’t even need it.

Our family of four (2 adults and 2 kids) stayed for almost a month and we would highly recommend this place. The apartment has comfy beds, a great shower inside and outside, a fully equipped kitchen and air conditioning. There is a nice little creek outside, plenty of tall trees and beautiful wildlife (birds, lizards and monkeys). Ben and Erika were excellent hosts, always happy to help and were so generous during their stay. The apartment is connected to the Iona community project which provides social services, as well as a coffee social enterprise (with excellent coffee!). Samara is a lovely town. We surfed every day (it's best near high tide) and the wave is good for beginners in close to shore, with some bigger sets rolling in if you are more experienced. Three major grocery stores are on the street with eveything you need, a pharmacy, and plenty of excellent restaurants. Highly recommended!

Ben war ein hervorragender Gastgeber. Sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Der Cafe ist sehr gut.
Die Lage in Samara ist super, alles zu Fuss erreichbar. Die Küche ist etwas klein, um für wine ganze Familie kochen zu können. Das einzige negative war, dass der Lärm in der Nacht störend war, je nach Fahrzeug hatte es sogar leicht vibriert und das Zimmer war nie wirklich dunkel.
Der Strand in Samara und vorallem Carillo waren traumhaft. Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen.

IONA and the people there were the highlight of our time in Sámara!
The location was walkable to all the local grocery stores, beach and restaurants, but still felt private and safe! You don’t need a car here.
It’s on the main road so there is a little road noise at night but the hosts have added so many thoughtful touches like a sound machine! Also plenty to cook your meals at home.
It was great for kids with a kids library and common spaces where they could burn energy. The design of the rooms, furniture, and overall space really elevate the experience!
The cafe is cool and roasts their on coffee on site which they include in the rooms! It’s super tasty.
The people are what make it, the hosts and everyone who works there are so kind and helpful. We sure hope to stay here again.

Our stay at the treehouse was incredible. The place was immaculate, and we had a lovely balcony overlooking a field. The location is brilliant. You’re slightly out of town, but easily walkable…within 5 mins to the beach and centre of town. Erika was one of the best hosts we’ve had. We had a couple of questions throughout our stay, and she was immediately responsive and provided help, always with a welcoming smile 😊 Thank you for such a great stay!

Bel espace de vie à distance de marche de la plage et de la vie nocturne de Samara !!!! Petit réveil inusité à cause des singes qui aiment bien manger des mangues juste à côté. On était très bien !!!

Where to begin! We absolutely loved every minute spent in Samara and the Treehouse was a perfect play to stay. We were greeted by Ben and given a full tour of the grounds. There is a ton of wildlife and amenities, not to mention, homemade donuts in the attached coffee shop. Just steps to the beach, restaurants and shopping - the location couldn’t have been better. We will recommend this spot to everyone and hope to be back ourselves!
